Tree Reductions

Pruning cuts are carried out in accordance with british standards 3998 2010 (recommendations for tree work)   Here at Golden Spruce Tree Surgeon we offer the full spectrum of tree reduction services. Whether it be formative pruning for younger trees or more involved reductions for older trees that might have gotten a bit too big for their considerable boots. We also provide a number of health conscious options; thinning which allows more air to circulate throughout the canopy, reducing the potentially damaging effects of high winds. Lifting which can allow for greater access and take weight off some potentially overburdened branches or boughs. I am happy to make a site visit and talk you through what options I think would benefit the tree most going forward.

Tree Felling

The removal of a tree is never an easy decision to take and with environmental concerns a growing feature of today's society the process can prove stressful.   Why not allow Golden Spruce Tree Surgeon to alleviate that stress and remove your problem tree with a minimum of fuss. I have helped remove hundreds of trees of all sizes and shapes in my time, whether the tree needs dismantling, whereby the tree is reduced in smaller pieces, or felled, where the tree is cut down in one go from the ground. I have spent the past 10 years working in and around suburban environments and the confined spaces they regularly provide.   The use of specialist equipment and techniques, harnessing ropes and pulleys in accordance with lowering devices and thoughtful planning, almost all trees can be reduced by the traditional climber and groundie method. There are some circumstances when this is not practicable, for instance a particularly dead or rotten tree, which would be unsafe to climb and so a MEWP ( mobile elevated work platform) would be brought in and used to dismantle the tree.   All work will be done to the British Standard 3998 2010 (recommendations for tree work). All climbing and rigging operations follow the working at height regulations 2005 and all lifting and life support equipment is regularly inspected in accordance with LOLER (lifting equipment and lifting operations regulations 2005)

Stump Grinding

Stumps from felled or long dead trees can prevent any number of future groundworks. Whether you want to replant something in the old tree's place, or lay down a new surface such as a garden patio or a driveway. Given the requisite space a stump  grinder can be used to grind the stump to a depth that will allow any future plans to take place. Sometimes space or location wont allow for a stump grinder to be used, in these cases the use of low-toxicity herbicidal eco-plugs can help achieve the same results. Although they take longer to decay the wood, they do not pose a threat to the local fauna or flora nor your pets.

Hedge Maintenance

Hedges provide a variety of valuable functions for both homeowners and the local wildlife. They can provide a border between neighbouring properties as well as an aesthetical contrast with the trees and shrubs within a garden. Hedges can comprise various species and although they might serve a valuable role in the ecology of a garden, they will on occasion need trimming or even being fully removed. In terms of trimming it is important to get the timing right. This is because there may be a variety of wildlife living within the hedge, from birds to insects to hedgehogs and amphibians. Depending on the species make up of the hedge we can decide which time of year will be best to perform the trimming. In cases where removal is required, we can discuss the idea of potentially replacing the hedge if that is what is desired.
